Rocky v Hannity

Last week the circus visited the University of Utah in Salt Lake City when conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity and SLC Mayor Rocky Anderson squared off to debate War in Iraq and impeachment of President Bush. In the most conservative and republican state in the nation, Hannity was welcomed with open arms. Rocky also had a fair amount supporters, who were very vocal with their opposition to Hannity, but a majority of the crowd adored Hannity and though it was Rocky who should be impeached.

I think Rocky made better, logical arguements, and Hannnity spend most of his time taking cheap shots at the mayor and liberals as a whole. But, In the end, I don't think either party changed anyone's mind to their point of view and most of what was said had been said many times before by both men. This 'debate' was more like a WWF 'smack-down' match, but less entertaining.

"Our most-cherished values as Americans have been betrayed in unprecedented fashion," Anderson said. "Either we condone what he has done through our inaction or we impeach him."

"Everything is George Bush's fault," Hannity said, sarcastically. "Some of you women may get pregnant. If you do, it's not your fault, it's George Bush's fault."

The mayor closed by saying the U.S. "war of aggression" in Iraq is not what America stands for.

"To remove the president would send a resounding message to the world," he said. "To remain silent is complicity."

I support that statement.
